What Is A Gua Sha? Everything You Need To Know To Take Your Self-Care Routine To The Next Level.
Are you ready to take your self-care routine to the next level with your new favourite beauty tool, the Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is a facial tool and massage technique traditionally used in East Asian healing practices to increase blood flow and relieve congestion. The goal was to treat acute and chronic disorders by literally scraping the illness away. Today we use the Gua Sha to relieve tension in the muscles of the face, boost blood circulation, and encourage lymphatic draining to reduce puffiness. It may also help break up fascia, the connective tissue that hugs muscles but can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation in the face.
Who doesn’t want to relax and nourish their skin at the same time? Self-care is so important, especially during isolation!
What are the key benefits of using Gua Sha as part of your facial massage?
Reduce puffiness
Many users say that Gua Sha helps to sculpt their features, and in turn reduce puffiness. This occurs due to lymphatic drainage from your face and neck.
Reduce tension
By strengthening your facial muscles regularly with a Gua Sha, you may experience enhanced relaxation and reduced tension in your face. This can help in preventing wrinkles and improving skin texture.
Improved blood circulation
Using facial tools and massage as part of your regular routine has a positive impact on skin blood flow, which may help improve your skins appearance and can lead to glowing skin!
Stimulate your endorphins
The scraping movement of Gua Sha against the skin causes the face to release the body's natural anti-inflammation and pain-relieving endorphins. Overall, less tension, less pain, and less inflammation on the face will result in a happier you!
HOW TO USE?
STEP 1
Start with clean skin and apply your favourite moisturiser or serum
STEP 2
Follow the guide as to which side of your Gua Sha to use on the areas of your face. Using soft pressure, work from the top of your face downwards. Don’t forget your neck!
We recommend holding your Gua Sha at an angle (almost flat against your skin!) in order to control the pressure ad movement against the face. To truly complete your at home facial make sure you mirror whatever you do on one side of your face with the other!
STEP 3
Wash your Gua Sha with warm water and soap. Repeat this practice 2 to 3 times a week.
How often should I use my Gua Sha?
We recommend using your Gua Sha 2 to 3 times a week and alternating between using during the morning and at night. Setting aside time to relax and treat your skin will help ease anxiety and make you feel well-rested and pampered. Not only will you feel more relaxed, but your skin will reap the rewards!
